Alan Straus joins Mott MacDonald’s leadership team in North America

Alan Straus has joined Mott MacDonald’s leadership team in North America as East Unit General Manager for the global engineering, development and management consultancy.

As East Unit General Manager, Alan will be responsible for providing strategic leadership and delivering Mott MacDonald’s growth ambitions in the eastern half of the United States. Alan will work closely with Mott MacDonald’s East Division General Managers – Aimee Barwick, Dan Koprowski and David Skipper – to lead operations, build enduring partnerships, deliver excellence to clients and attract the best talent in the industry. Alan will play a critical role in driving the consultancy’s North American growth strategy, which is focused on transit and urban mobility, energy, water and tunnels.

Alan brings over 35 years of strategy and growth, operations, business development, and transportation experience. He joins Mott MacDonald from AECOM and its legacy companies after a 25-year career there, most recently as senior vice president and chief strategy and growth officer for its East Region where he led a 9,000-person division covering the eastern half of the US, Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. Alan’s technical expertise includes leading highway, bridge, toll, transit, freight, marine, and aviation projects.

Prior to AECOM, Alan was assistant division chief, project manager and project engineer with the Maryland State Highway Administration’s Office of Planning and Preliminary Engineering. Alan currently serves on the Board of Directors for the Engineering Society of Baltimore.
