Let's take collaborative action now. Together, we can transform the transport sector and pave the way for a resilient and decarbonised future.
The 2024 Brisbane Carbon Crunch event provided a strong platform for leaders from across the transport sector to reflect on the key role in broader community and economical resilience, as well as come together and discuss inspiring and market leading decarbonisation action.
Four key powerful messages emerged:
- Collaboration: The journey towards resilience and decarbonisation in the transport sector requires collaboration and innovation across the entire supply chain and industry. We must unite to drive meaningful change.
- Systems thinking: Considering the whole-of-life cost is crucial, as it balances the cost of adaptation against the cost of inaction, integrating resilience into our infrastructure systems effectively.
- Action at scale and at pace: The slow pace of embedding innovation to support resilience and decarbonisation across the sector is a significant challenge. However, we have the technologies and the motivation to trial and roll-out new, innovative solutions. Now, more than ever, decision makers, agencies and organisations need to embrace flexibility and agility to support the large-scale adoption of these innovations.
- Role of procurement in improving decarbonisation and resilience ambitions: Customers across value chains are increasingly asking for carbon conscious and low carbon offerings to support them in their decarbonisation efforts. A large-scale adoption of low emissions and resilient options accompanied by fit-for-purpose and flexible policy will be needed.
