Treatment Lead

The role. What you will do:
Our Water team in Wellington is fast growing and we are looking for an experienced leader to join us. In this role, your primary responsibility would be to support the growth and development of our treatment team consisting of Mechanical and Process Engineers in Wellington, working with our other discipline managers in Wellington and Auckland.
You will also contribute to the planning and design of various projects, including large municipal wastewater & water treatment plants, commercial onsite treatment systems, community treatment plants, and industrial trade waste treatment systems.
You will have experience in the design of water and/or wastewater treatment plants and water and wastewater conveyancing networks to join us in delivering exciting projects across New Zealand and Australasia, with a specific focus on the Lower North Island.
As a key leader in our water team, this role would see you responsible for line management, coordination of resourcing with other offices and discipline managers; providing discipline specific bid and project teams, including the appropriate use of other offices and global teams; managing team utilisation; planning and managing staff skills and capability development.
Your technical background will allow you to coordinate the preparation, as well as review and manage production of designs, technical and commercial specifications, drawings, and schedules on a range of projects, whilst providing support and mentoring to build the capacity of junior engineers and actively lead development of the treatment team.
You would work in close partnership with our Clients and Contractors through all design phases and into the construction phase. This role will give you an opportunity to develop your leadership skills and profile within the Wellington Region, whilst contributing to the delivery of treatment projects across Aotearoa.
About You:
A passion for delivering high quality water projects for our communities, and the ability and energy to work in a team environment is highly desirable. Your well-developed interpersonal skills with an ability to influence and guide key stakeholders will set you up for success from the start of your career at Mott MacDonald.
The successful candidate for this role would have proven experience in team leadership and project delivery. In particular, you should also have expertise in the delivery for both new and existing treatment plants. Ideally, you will have a degree in Environmental, Civil, Mechanical or Process Engineering, and be a Chartered Engineer or progressing towards being Chartered.
Additionally, you should exhibit great team leadership, excellent communication skills, a proactive approach to design, a drive for innovation to add value, excellent client liaison, and a strong team-orientated ethos. You will have experience working in multidisciplinary teams, an interest in leading and mentoring junior engineers to foster collaboration with both internal teams, Clients and other stakeholders in the supply chain.
