About the business unit  
The Buildings and Cities Unit (BNC) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.  

 

About the role
We are seeking a Social Consultant to work with our environmental and social advisory team based in our İstanbul and/or Ankara Offices. The role requires working on wide range of environmental and social projects which will involve interfacing with clients, contractors and other consultants providing support to project managers. The key social services to deliver are:  social impact assessment, social due diligence, labour, stakeholder engagement, resettlement managing planning and auditing, community health and safety, gender and human rights.

 


As a Consultant, your responsibilities will include:

  • Apply knowledge and understanding of social legislation and both Turkish and International standards/regulations;
  • Establish and maintain stakeholder relationships;
  • Review social documentation on behalf of clients and identify social risks;
  • Experience working with international guidelines for social sustainability and safeguards; experience in IFC Performance Standards, EBRD Performance Requirements and Equator Principles is also essential;
  • Undertaking site visits; reviewing, monitoring social documentation;
  • Working in compliance with essential regulatory and contractual health and safety obligations 
  • Full range of consultancy skills including negotiating, presenting, and facilitating.


The candidate is intended to have the capacity to work for international projects and related advisory services having a basic understanding of legal and commercial aspects related to technical aspects.

 

The successful candidate will need/have:

  • A Licence degree in social sciences or equivalent;
  • Expertise in preparing Environmental and Social Impact Assessment (ESIA);
  • Expertise in relevant local legislation;
  • Experience of working with both Public and private sector clients;
  • Experience of working on international ESIA and environmental and social due diligence projects;
  • Experience of providing social value contribution to bids and winning work is preferable
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Turkish is mandatory;
  • Preferably experience within a consultancy environment;
  • Good inter-personal skills with the ability to integrate into existing teams, and work alongside colleagues of other disciplines;
  • Progressive and imaginative approach in their work and strive to add value where possible for the benefit of the company and our clients;
  • Good adoption skills to new and challenging environments.
