About the Role
Mott MacDonald require a site-based Structural Engineer to support shop drawing endorsements, material submittal review, method statement reviews, as-built drawing review, testing and commissioning review for a major Land Development & Civil Infrastructure project in UAE.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Prepare designs, specifications, calculations, drawings and risk assessments for maintenance, refurbishment and new build schemes. Obtain statutory approvals where needed.
- Actively participate in the preparation of concept, scheme, and detailed design calculations and drawings for structural projects.
- Undertaking structural engineering analysis and design
- Ability to inspect works carried out on site and monitor quality and compliance with design drawings.
- Be accountable for the timely production and delivery of reliable design solutions, reports, specifications and drawings
- Ensure all design work is carried out in accordance with Company’s quality standard procedures
- Provide effective task management and monitor against agreed scope, programme and budget
- Provide structural technical support and manage the technical accuracy of the project delivery
- Be able to present technical aspects of a project and structural design approach to technical and non-technical individuals
- Maintaining a comprehensive knowledge and appreciation of current technical engineering codes and practices and taking a role in technical matters both at project and divisional level
- Responsible for supervising, directing and coordinating the inspection team
- Ensuring that responses are complete and in compliance with the contract documents. Where problems are found, work with team leader to resolve
- Attends progress review meetings and co-ordination meetings to assist the Project Lead/Senior Engineer in resolving any site issues such as discrepancies in project’s drawings
- Monitor Health and Safety of the construction works and report on the same. If required stop the construction works if unsafe practices are being followed.
- Fully aware of the authorities’ requirements and be able to highlight the same on the submittals, shop drawings …etc
- Site experience in basic design requirements, estimation, installation and all site activities.
- Familiar with the necessary Engineering methodologies as well as the corresponding equipment, materials, consumables, tools and manpower allocations related to the discipline of expertise.
Candidate Specifications:
- Bachelors’ degree in Civil/Structural Engineering from an internationally accredited university
- Experience in a similar role with prior experience of working on residential developments, Land Development & Civil Infrastructure project.
- Demonstrable experience and knowledge of structural engineering and including concrete and steel structures
