Mott MacDonald, a global engineering consultant is looking for a Senior Project Manager for our Portland, Oregon office with expert knowledge in transportation and infrastructure project development and delivery. In this position, you will work on a wide variety of transportation focused projects ranging from rail and transit to highways. You will be responsible for business development with new and existing clients, overseeing the execution of projects, mentoring engineering, construction, and project management staff, and preparing proposals.

Responsibilities will be as follows:

 

  • Project management and client management on projects
  • Develop work plans, schedules, and budgets
  • Responsible for client management and engagement
  • Work with other project managers to establish contract budgets and scopes of work
  • Lead project teams in design and oversee the performance of the design
  • Work with project teams in supervising/mentoring technical staff and assistant project managers
  • Supervise, coordinate, and review the work of other engineers and designers
  • Provide the design staff with guidance and assistance on projects
  • Perform business development, identify leads and participate in client meetings
  • Lead proposal development where applicable
  • Lead or assist with contract negotiations.
  • Identify and communicate construction issues to senior management/ client as necessary
  • Assists management to appropriately respond to Contractor’s correspondence and ensure that responses are accurate and timely.
  • Provide Construction Management support to clients as needed.
  • Ensure contractor requests for change are being timely reviewed and evaluated by appropriate project team members, including preparation and other support as needed for contract change orders/modifications.
  • Ensure construction progress is being recorded accurately and is reported in a timely manner.
  • Address any other activities as necessary and where applicable to Construction Management.

 

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering
  • A minimum of 12+ years of relevant experience in transportation related design projects and/or construction management
  • Candidate must demonstrate effective team leadership and project management experience, as well as the ability to prepare engineering reports
  • Existing relationships with the Portland Metro transportation clients preferred, as well as knowledge of their policies and procedures
  • Must have excellent oral and written communications skills
