Mott MacDonald is searching for a Senior Pumping/Hydraulics Engineer to work with our established Water sector team. This opportunity is open in any of our locations listed in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, North Carolina, and/or Louisiana. You will work on various projects within water/wastewater needing extensive experience in the planning, design, and construction of a variety of types of pumping systems and hydraulics utilizing HI standards for systems with a relative degree of complexity.

Position responsibilities will include:

  • Overseeing and leading engineering efforts  for planning, design, and construction phase services on municipal water, wastewater, stormwater, and reuse infrastructure projects with heavy emphasis on the hydraulics, pumping, and piping systems
  • Be able to lead and review detailed calculations for pumping systems including system head development, selection of appropriate pumps, and surge analysis, as needed
  • Use of hydraulic  modeling software
  • Preparing technical memoranda, reports, drawings, specifications, and engineer’s estimate of construction costs
  • Supporting field investigations and information collection including participating in or leading field testing to validate the design
  • Preparing engineering and hydraulic calculations
  • Analyzing data, reviewing technical information, and conducting technical evaluations
  • Assisting with construction submittal review, responding to contractor information requests, contract document interpretation, and field observation
  • In the field troubleshooting pumping and hydraulic issues including analysis for resolution
  • Leading system start-up of complicated pumping systems and controls 

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • B.S. Degree in Civil or Environmental Engineering;
  • Licensed Professional Engineer with the ability to obtain a PE within 6 months
  • 15+ years of experience;
    • Extensive experience in the planning, design, and construction of pumping systems and hydraulics utilizing HI standards for systems with a relative degree of complexity
  • Mentoring staff engineers;
  • Self-starter with the ability to lead and manage people and projects;
  • Strong technical capabilities related to pumping, piping, and hydraulics
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present effective technical reports.
  • Uses and directs others in the use of industry-standard computer software (examples may include PipeFlo, WaterCAD, InfoWater, SewerCAD, and InfoSewer)
