Are you a talented fire safety engineer looking to make a significant impact on some of the world’s most prestigious projects? Mott MacDonald is seeking a high-calibre professional to join our dynamic team in London. We deliver innovative fire strategies and performance-based solutions across a wide range of sectors, including airports, healthcare, retail, education, residential, hospitality, public buildings, sports facilities, rail stations, heritage sites, military installations, and power plants.


What You’ll Do:
•    Develop Fire Safety Strategies: Create comprehensive fire safety plans for diverse building and infrastructure projects.
•    Design Review: Analyse and ensure designs meet current codes of practice, providing bespoke solutions to unique fire engineering challenges.
•    Collaborate: Work closely with internal and external technical teams to offer the best advice for our clients.
•    Fire and Smoke Modelling: Specify and interpret studies, with experience in Fire Dynamics Simulator being a plus.
•    Project Management: Oversee fire engineering design work from concept to detailed stages, ensuring quality and adherence to budget and timelines.
•    Site Coordination: Supervise site-based activities, including building familiarization and surveys.
•    Quality Assurance: Conduct formal peer reviews and maintain high standards in all deliverables.
•    Client Engagement: Liaise with stakeholders, provide technical advice, and develop strong client relationships.
•    Business Development: Support business growth and assist with resource planning.
•    Project Management: Manage projects using company finance systems when needed.


What We’re Looking For:
•    Ideally, you are a Chartered Engineer with the Engineering Council UK or equivalent, or working towards it.
•    Degree in a relevant engineering or science discipline.
•    Proficient in fire/smoke modelling tools (CFD, zone models, evacuation models) and experienced with UK and international fire codes (NFPA, IBC, etc.).
•    Excellent report writing, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
•    Strong knowledge and experience in performance-based fire engineering to national frameworks.
•    Experience in both building and infrastructure projects is highly desirable.
