Our office in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Principal Project Manager, specializing in bridges! Locally, we are leading challenging projects and providing design expertise on projects across the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic, including in Georgia, Alabama, North Carolina, and Florida. Our South-Central team supports some of the most ambitious transportation, water, and infrastructure projects in North America, including: 

  • Regionally significant – Rome-Cartersville Development Corridor – Project includes 13 bridges, new interchange on I-75 and 6 turbo roundabouts.
  • SR 17 GRIP Corridor – 12.2 miles of 2-lane to 4-lane widening
  • Gordon Highway Improvements – 10.0 miles of resurfacing, rehabilitation and sidewalk improvements in GDOT’s TIA program.
  • Multiple contracts in GDOT’s bridge replacement program
  • Gwinnett County Transportation On-Call – widenings and intersections
  • Design-Build projects of different delivery methods.

 

Responsibilities of the position will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Develop and evaluate plans and criteria for new projects, weighing alternatives and selecting the most cost-effective solution.
  • Analyzes technical problems, assesses proposed techniques and procedures' feasibility, and devises new approaches and alternative solutions.
  • Design and develop plans and drawings, which may include the development of preliminary layout and/or final drawings.
  • Research the feasibility of alternative design approaches, site conditions, and regulatory agency specifications.
  • Lead and supervise a structural design team in Georgia composed of a diverse group of engineers for projects within the Southeast.
  • Plan and review the production of engineering drawings, specifications engineering investigations and planning work.
  • Lead junior professionals and technical personnel on the design and drafting of preliminary and final plans.
  • Coordinate with all staff, including other disciplines, to maintain project execution and control to achieve continuity of purpose within scope, budget, and time schedules from initial start-up through final design on Bridge projects.
  • Supervise and/or participate in quality control checks, maintaining quality standards in all work produced, checking computations, and/or reviewing designs and drawings performed by others.
  • Assist with creation of project scope, cost and manpower estimates, schedules and job budgets.
  • Provide guidance and support to younger engineers, fostering their professional growth through mentorship and knowledge sharing.

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • 15+ years in the Highway Bridge field including Project Management experience with transportation projects.
  • Education: BS or MS in engineering with a structural emphasis, with MS preferred.
  • Current Georgia P.E. License preferred or ability to obtain within a reasonable amount of time.
  • GDOT experience required familiarity with GDOT PDE process preferred.
  • Preferred experience with Team Leadership and a desire to help grow a bridge group.
  • Proven technical writing and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including organization and attention to detail.
  • A valid driver's license and clean driving record is required for this position.
