The opportunity 

 

We are seeking a Pricipal Civil Engineer to join the team to lead the delivery of major roads projects, including signature local projects, as well as opportunities to support the delivery of high-profile projects nationally and globally. You will have the opportunity to shape and grow the roads group within our wider transport team, focusing on embedding technical excellence at the core of everything we do.

 

In Queensland, we are currently working on iconic projects in the region such as Sunshine Coast Transport and Logan to Gold Coast Faster Rail (including level crossing removals), as well as several key planning studies and business cases that will see critical infrastructure delivered to support the 2032 Olympics. Roads play a vital role in all of these projects and you will have the opportunity to be at the forefront of their delivery.

As a Technical Director - Major Projects (Roads) to be based in Queensland, you will have the opportunity to:

 

  • Manage the delivery of projects for the Transport Team, including TMR projects and civil projects for our various sectors both in QLD and interstate
  • Oversee projects from Client relationship and bid development phase, through to planning, design, and delivery phases.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to projects and the Highways team; manage the preparation of tenders and proposals for potential projects.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients and our various other sectors for engineering support.
  • Prepare and review project documentation, including reports, plans, and specifications.
  • Manage project budgets, schedules, and resources to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing effective solutions to address challenges.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  • Collaborate with business development teams to identify and pursue new project opportunities.

 

About you 

 

  • An inclusive leadership style.
  • Tertiary qualifications in Degree in a relevant Engineering or related field 
  • Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) preferred 
  • Be a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland (RPEQ), or the ability to obtain within 6 months.
  • Experience working on transport projects, with a demonstrable track record in leading and delivering the design of major roads projects in Queensland.
  • Strong technical skills and a detailed understanding of standards and local Client requirements for the design of road infrastructure.
  • Engaged industry connections, particularly with the QLD Department of Transport and Main Roads.
