As a Mechanical Designer, your roles and responsibilities are expected to include:
Review and understand codes and specifications related to design requirements
Work collaboratively with others (project managers, engineers and designers) in a team environment to resolve design/drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives
Verify accuracy and completeness of all deliverable products and services in assigned areas of responsibility
Mentor less experienced designers
Drawings may include:
Piping & instrument diagrams
Process flow diagram
Piping and equipment layouts
Sections & details
Isometric drawings
Bill of materials
Equipment
Candidate Specification:
High school diploma or GED required, some college is a plus
2 or more years of design experience creating mechanical drawings for as-builts, MLV’s, launchers, receivers, meter stations, pump stations, oil separation, and gas compression facilities preferred
Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proficient understanding of recent versions of AutoCAD and/or CADworx
Create and modify drawings using nationally recognized standards, client supplied specifications, and company drafting standards.
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills
Strong written, verbal and organizational skills
Requires a high degree of initiative and self-motivation
Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally in excess of an 8 hour day
Ability to plan, layout and complete drawings without supervision, and the ability to work well under stress and time pressures
General Knowledge of the following:
The ASME piping codes
Elevation and coordinate systems, both plant and world
Pipelines, meter stations
Civil structural requirements for pipe and equipment support
Pipe and equipment installation
Process instrumentation use
Drawing controls, reproduction, and creating transmittals for electronic and hard copies of drawing packages
Field survey of existing pipe and equipment
Hazardous area classification
Pipeline mapping
Cathodic protection
