Job Description:
Electrical designer III for natural gas pipeline and facilities projects supporting the senior designers and engineers. 
 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Review and understand codes and specifications related to design requirements
  •  Work collaboratively with others (Project Managers, Engineers, and Designers) in a team environment to resolve design/drawing issues as appropriate and to accomplish objectives 
  • Design electrical, instrumentation and control systems for Oil and Gas Facilities. This includes Hazard Area Class Plans, Grounding Plans, Conduit and Cable Tray Plans, details, and schedules 
  • Perform lighting and voltage drop calculations 
  • Mentor less experienced designers 
  • Willing to learn new skills to improve design capabilities and Mott MacDonald standards 

 

Candidate Specification:
We invite applications from candidates with the following experience: 

  • Associates degree Drafting and Design, Associates degree in Electrical Technology Design or related education Additional degrees is a plus 
  • Design experience in creating electrical drawings including cable tray, underground conduit, power panel feeder design. Ability to create single line diagrams
  • Ability to perform simple electrical calculations including voltage drop, conduit fill, conductor de-ratings, load summaries 
  • Design experience or willingness to learn how to read P&IDs a plus 
  • Design experience or willingness to learn controls or instrumentation design a plus 
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, Outlook) 
  • An advanced understanding of the latest version of AutoCAD and/or CADWorx. 
  • Design experience or willingness to learn Navisworks a plus 
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving skills 
  • Strong written, verbal and organizational skills 
  • Requires a high degree of initiative and self-motivation 
  • Ability to work flexible hours, occasionally more than 8 am to 5 pm schedule 
  • Ability to plan, layout and complete drawings without supervision, and the ability to work well under stress and time pressures
  • Create and modify drawings using nationally recognized standards, client supplied specifications, and Mott MacDonald drafting standards
  • This position is located in Lexington, KY. You must be able to reliably commute to our office in this location, per our hybrid working policy.
