Mott MacDonald Bentley (MMB) is a design and build business combining the design expertise of Mott MacDonald with the contracting experience of JN Bentley, operating across water, energy and environment sectors throughout the UK.

Working in close collaboration with our clients and supply chain, we deliver projects all the way from feasibility through to construction, commissioning, and handover - with a focus on providing great outcomes.

We are looking for a proactive Graduate Ecologist to join our team in Shifnal, who will be part of a wider environmental team co-located across the UK, supporting a regional team comprised of both design and operation staff. The programme will improve clean and wastewater services across the West Midlands and mid-Wales, as well as improving the environment.

What you’ll do:

  • Support ecological input on a broad range of projects benefitting consumers, communities, and the environment.
  • Undertake surveys, manage field date, write up technical reports, advise site teams as an ecological Clerk of Works, calculate, and advise on BNG.
  • Support the practical delivery of projects from outline design, through construction and hand-back to client.
  • Be involved with providing technical assistance on wider environmental aspects of projects and related activities in support of engineering and construction teams.
  • Work alongside other ecologists for a progressive, growing business that actively supports professional development and provides access to a professional network including global subject matter experts.

What you’ll need:

  • Graduated or due to graduate with a degree in an Ecology related subject
  • Good knowledge of relevant legislation including planning, BNG and EIA / HRA assessments
  • Ability to multi-task, maintain flexibility, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Full, clean driving licence with a willingness and ability to travel and undertake fieldwork in the UK.

What’s in it for you:

  • You will be automatically enrolled into our bespoke Early Careers Development Programme; a 12-month scheme designed to enhance your skills, expand your network, and enrich your experience.
  • You will work on projects that have a positive impact on the community whilst receiving mentorship and guidance from experienced professionals.
  • In addition to the bespoke training and development detailed above, you can access a huge variety of staff benefits including 26 days annual leave, holiday purchase, high street gym discounts, access to our Early Career Professionals network and lots more to look after your physical, mental and financial wellbeing.
