Mott MacDonald is looking for professionals to join our construction engineering and inspection team, here in Newark, Delaware. We are looking for experienced Field Personnel and Construction Supervisors with strong work ethics. Ten (10) years of Road Construction and Street Paving experience in the Delaware area is preferred.  


The successful candidate will be able to apply a comprehensive knowledge of various disciplines to be used during construction, as well as the methods and techniques to be utilized. Candidate must become thoroughly familiar with required construction documents and technical aspects of the project.

 

Additional responsibilities will include, but may not be limited to:

  • Being a self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently in a construction environment and undertake direction from the project manager as well as work with the team for a successful project. Inspection oversite may be required.
  • Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, and related documents.
  • Performing full-time observation of construction activities and clearly documenting all work and contractor’s conformance with the plans and specifications.
  • Preparing detailed Daily Reports for submission to the project records electronically. Reports will include contractors work performed, labor and equipment utilized, materials received, quality control testing performed, notice of any nonconforming work, quantity of payment items, weather, and any unusual observations.
  • Be able to measure and calculate areas of unspecified geometrical shapes to generate daily pay quantities.
  • Generate source documents by sketching work areas to record daily quantities of work performed either by hard copy or electronically.
  • Maintaining a strong client relationship and a professional relationship with the contractor and the communities.
  • Able to apply analytical thinking to solve problems associated with the task at hand in a quick and timely manner.
  • Preforming field estimates / project layout / pre-construction videos and participate in field punch list reviews.
  • Ability to manage budgets and control labor, equipment, and material costs.
  • Experience scheduling personnel and logistics preferred.
  • Ability to review and approve material source of supply and certifications.
  • Reviewing of monthly pay estimates and/or change orders.

Mott MacDonald's association with the public infrastructure projects dates to the 1900s. We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • CMAA Construction Manager in Training (CMIT) a plus
  • Previous construction experience working with public works agencies.
  • Willingness to learn everything about municipal construction and design.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • A general understanding of Microsoft Word and Excel is required.
  • Ability to drive for business purposes.
  • Willing to work extended hours as necessary.
