Mott MacDonald is in the market for a CEI Project Administrator/Project Engineer for our growing CEI team in Florida, most specifically in Orlando or Tampa. FDOT experience preferred. This team member will be responsible for the progress of estimates and final estimates throughout the construction project duration as well as directing and assigning specific tasks to administrative and field staff and assisting in all phases of the construction project.

Responsibilities include:

  • Prepare construction inspection summaries of daily activities.
  • Review drawings, specifications, and other contract documents for constructability (plans, specs, shop drawings)
  • Review detailed records of the contractor’s daily operations including manpower, equipment, construction methods, and events that affect the work.
  • Track / measure completed work quantities for payment.
  • Manage the team of inspectors, coordinate their schedules, and oversee their work and records.
  • Monitor work zone traffic control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues.
  • Monitor the erosion control plan and identify discrepancies and potential issues.
  • Oversee and accept project sampling and testing of component materials and completed work.
  • Verify the dimensions and calculations of prepared and completed work.
  • Analyze complex construction/design problems requiring the development of new or improved techniques or procedures and consults with design engineering personnel.
  • Inform Client on project issues and provide them with recommendations.
  • Interact with Project Managers and clients in a proactive manner to determine what routine issues affecting project management need to be addressed.
  • Maintain construction project records in accordance with FDOT procedures.
  • Interface proactively with the project managers, contractors, and inspection staff on various facets of the project including review of contract plans and documents, day-to-day construction activities and review of contractors’ submittals.
  • Perform/oversee the review of daily inspection reports and quantity computations.
  • Responsible for the progress and final estimates throughout the construction project duration
  • Adhere to company marketing requirements by providing timely resume updates.
  • Take ownership of personal career development by seeking and providing feedback, seizing opportunities to develop new skills, and setting and pursuing personal goals.

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience:

  • For personnel with Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degrees:
    • Two (2) years of engineering experience in relevant transportation projects.
    • And or/ a master’s degree in engineering, Engineering Technology, or Construction Management may be substituted for one (1) year of engineering experience.
  • For personnel without Engineering, Engineering Technology or Construction Management degrees:
    • Eight (8) years of CEI or roadway or bridge construction experience,
    • Two (2) of those years involved in relevant transportation projects.

 

Qualifications/certifications for this position may be obtained within six (6) months from the date of hire provided that this position works under the supervision and direction of a Senior Project Engineer, all other requirements for the position are met, and a training plan is submitted detailing when the qualifications/certifications will be obtained.

  • FDOT Advanced MOT
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level II
  • CTQP Quality Control Manager (Attend and pass the examination)
