Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

After a decade working as a water engineer, I transitioned to a career in the digital domain because I believe it has the potential to empower everyone here to deliver greater outcomes.

The challenges we face today, particularly in the infrastructure sector, require a different approach. We must understand how technology can support us in addressing these challenges more efficiently and with a fresh perspective. By leveraging recent advancements, we can build and operate infrastructure sustainably and with greater resilience.

In my opinion, emerging technologies, such as AI, provide the opportunity to free our people from repetitive tasks and share knowledge at scale. This creates a real opportunity to innovate, think differently, and develop solutions for tomorrow's world. I am particularly interested in AI because of its transformative potential to revolutionise our industry and drive positive change.

How has Mott MacDonald invested in your career?

I joined Mott MacDonald as a graduate and have always been given great opportunities to grow, learn, and take on new challenges. I started as a hydraulic modeller and eventually led the hydraulic team in New Zealand, which provided me with valuable leadership experience and a deep understanding of our business processes and client needs. Later, I worked as a product lead for Moata Smart Water, where I had the chance to drive innovation and shape digital solutions for the water sector. Currently, I am leading a programme of work that explores how AI can support our business, which is an exciting new challenge I am eager to tackle.

I have been privileged to be part of the Emerging Leaders programme, which has been a highlight in my career development and a great demonstration of our commitment to investing in professional growth. This programme has been instrumental in my development, providing me with the support and guidance needed to succeed and advance both professionally and personally.
