John Chesterton

Principal project manager, practice leader, water
North America
Increasing water scarcity, more extreme weather events, and a changing energy landscape are challenging water industry professionals around the world. The infrastructure built by our predecessors is aging and our understanding of the environment has come a long way. To me, this means that today we need a deeper more integrated water resources practice to meet these challenges.

John Chesterton is a principal project manager and practice leader of Mott MacDonald’s water resources and conveyance practice in North America. John has played an active role in the practice as a principal project manager, project technical leader, and is a subject matter expert for dams and pumped hydropower projects with a focus on hydraulics and CFD modeling.

John has over 20 years of experience and has covered large infrastructure and private projects in the US, Europe, South and Central Asia, Africa, and New Zealand. Prior to joining Mott MacDonald in 2010, he spent seven years at Tonkin & Taylor Limited as a Water Resource Engineer. John is a skilled professional in project management, civil design, and hydraulic assessment in the hydropower, water supply, irrigation, and highways industries for a wide range of water projects.
