South Hook LNG terminal upgrade, UK

Project Overview

250MW
reduction in fuel gas consumption
We provided engineering, procurement and contract support for the development of a 500MW combined heat and power (CHP) plant and integration with the adjacent South hook LNG terminal in Wales.

We designed upgrades, modifications and interfaces to convert the terminal facilities so that LNG could be regasified using ‘waste’ heat, recovered from the CHP plant and transferred through a circulating water system.

This will reduce the LNG terminal’s fuel gas consumption by a rate equivalent to 250MW, and reduce emissions associated with combustion. We developed the design to ensure construction wouldn’t disrupt gas export.

On completion, the two plants will form a highly efficient collective energy hub. Our designs created a sustainable conversion to form an efficient energy hub.
