Regional Connector project reaches milestone

On April 18, LA Metro announced that its Regional Connector transit project had reached a major milestone. US update

According to the agency, “Metro has officially completed construction of all the track work, guideway systems and station platform areas for the Grand Av/Bunker Hill Station, paving the way for train and systems testing.”

Mott MacDonald is the prime designer for this highly complex design-build project, which will connect LA Metro’s A Line (Blue), E Line (Expo), and L Line (Gold) in downtown Los Angeles. The project has won awards from Tunnel Business Magazine, the International Tunnelling Association, and the Underground Construction Association of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (UCA of SME).

Metro Board Chair and LA County Supervisor Hilda L. Solis said, “We are making great progress in reaching substantial completion and look forward to the Regional Connector’s opening later this year.”
