As part of a wide-ranging growth strategy, Mott MacDonald has reorganized its leadership in North America, welcoming new Unit General Managers.
Aled Griffiths
Canada Unit (Vancouver, BC office)
Aled Griffiths joined Mott MacDonald in 2000. As Divisional General Manager, a role he took on in 2016, he has played a pivotal role in the growth of the Canada Unit. Aled is a Chartered Engineer (UK) and a Professional Engineer (British Columbia, Alberta) with a background in delivering large bridge, highway, and transit projects. Aled’s projects include the Port Mann Highway 1 project, a major design-build project, and the Broadway Subway project, a major transit tunnel in Vancouver.
The Canada Unit’s work recently led to Mott MacDonald being chosen prime designer for the Scarborough Subway Extension Stations, Rail and Systems contract in Ontario. The Scarborough Subway Extension is expected to bring 38,000 more people within easy reach of public transportation and will cut greenhouse gas emissions by about 10,000 metric tons per year.
Brian Wolf
Energy Unit (West Springfield, MA office)
Brian Wolf has served as Energy Unit General Manager since 2018, with responsibilities over power transmission, power generation, renewables, pipelines and facilities businesses. He has over 30 years of experience in the energy industry. Brian has extensive knowledge and expertise in program and project management, engineering, design, procurement, material selection, operations, maintenance, and construction for large energy infrastructure projects. His background includes work for a utility, an operator, a construction contractor, and a consultancy, with emphasis on large pipelines and facilities.
The Energy Unit won over 450 projects in 2022, including work to conduct a Comprehensive Study of Hydrogen in Natural Gas Infrastructure for the INGAA Foundation.
Jon Davies
Northeast Unit (Boston, MA office)

Jon Davies joined Mott MacDonald in 1995. He is an accomplished geotechnical engineer with 28 years of experience in program management, planning, design, and construction management for transportation infrastructure projects throughout the US and abroad. As Project Principal he has overseen the Program Manager role for the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority’s (MBTA) Green Line Transformation, a megaproject worth more than $3.5 billion, and the $1 billion Red Line/Orange Line Infrastructure Improvements Program.
Mott MacDonald recently marked completion of the MBTA’s Green Line Extension, which will provide service to areas that lacked fast and reliable public transit and will significantly reduce vehicle emissions in the Boston area.
Julia K. Barker
South-Central Unit (Lakewood, CO office)
Julia K. Barker has over 20 years of engineering leadership experience in the transportation industry. She joined Mott MacDonald in 2022 as Central Unit General Manager. In 2015, while employed at Parsons, Julia won the area’s first major bridge and tunnel project as a capture and project manager for the SH 82 Grand Avenue Bridge construction management/inspection contract. As vice president and Mountains/Desert Area Manager, she was capture manager and project principal for the most recent Mountain View Corridor (Utah 85) design-build project in Salt Lake City.
In 2023, Mott MacDonald was awarded an extension to our contract to provide program management for Denver Water’s Lead Reduction Program. In the first three years of implementation, we helped Denver Water to replace more than 15,000 lead service lines.
Ernie Figueroa
West Unit (Los Angeles, CA office)
Ernie Figueroa joined Mott MacDonald in 2021 as Southwest Division General Manager. During his 12 years at Parsons, he rose to the position of Vice President and Area Manager for Los Angeles and the Inland Empire. Before joining Parsons, Ernie was Deputy District Director for the California Department of Transportation.
Through the West Unit’s efforts, Mott MacDonald is the prime designer for LA Metro’s Regional Connector transit project, a highly complex design-build that has won awards from Tunnel Business Magazine, the International Tunnelling Association, and the Underground Construction Association of the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration.
