Simon White has been appointed by Mott MacDonald to further develop and drive the business’ digital strategy in the role of chief digital officer for UK, Europe, Middle East and India.
Working closely with UK and Europe managing director Richard Risdon and Middle East and India managing director Doug Wilson, Simon will provide digital leadership and build on Mott MacDonald’s existing digital capabilities. Simon’s work in his region will compliment that of Chuck Hixon, who is chief digital officer for North America, and Steve Couper who is chief digital officer for Australia, New Zealand and Asia Pacific. All three will work with Mott MacDonald group chief digital officer Jon Malam to deliver the global strategy at a regional level.
Simon joins Mott MacDonald from VolkerWessels UK where he held the post of chief digital officer for six years and delivered an award-winning digital construction and innovation transformation strategy.
As a Fellow of the Institution of Civil Engineers, with over 30 years of experience in the construction sector, Simon has held a number of operational and technical roles in the UK and internationally. He has also worked across a variety of sectors including water, environment, education, healthcare, marine, highways and energy.
Jon said: “With Simon’s appointment, we take a significant step forward in our already successful digital journey. Simon’s expertise in digital and engineering will be instrumental in accelerating our digital strategy, bringing innovation to the projects we deliver and enhancing the experience for our clients.”
Richard added: “Bringing the digital function into our regions has placed our tools and capabilities closer to clients and projects. In leading on this focus, Simon brings with him a wealth of expertise, which is complimented by his passion and vision. I am really excited to see the impact he will have on helping us develop Mott MacDonald's digital future.”
Speaking about the focus of his new role, Simon said: “We have an amazing opportunity to accelerate our digitalisation journey by connecting our digital and technical expertise. Through focusing on how we use digital tools and knowledge on our projects, businesses and clients, we are creating more time for colleagues to think, innovate and drive positive outcomes for our clients and society.”
