Mott MacDonald has been appointed to lots 4 and 5 of National Highways’ new Operational Technology Commercial Framework (OTCF), designed to support the delivery of its technology pipeline and ensure that all major roads in England operate safely and efficiently.
Lot 4 enables National Highways to procure specialist Operational Systems Services to help manage traffic on the Strategic Road Network (SRN). The SRN is the most heavily used part of the national road network, carrying a third of all traffic and two-thirds of all freight. Examples of operational systems include incident management, urban traffic management and control, and Connected and Autonomous Vehicles (CAV) management.
Lot 5 covers Operational Technology professional services and consultancy support with specialist skills, for example, research, road mapping, technology gap analysis and cyber-security.
Andrew Theobald, Mott MacDonald’s account lead for National Highways, said: “We are delighted to have secured a place on this framework. Having successfully delivered traffic and infrastructure management technology for National Highways since 1998, with our most recent project being the development and implementation of Tools for the Technology Operations Capability (T-TOC), we have a deep understanding of the critical role these systems have in supporting the SRN. We look forward to supporting National Highways as they address the ambition of their Digital Roads Strategy; using data and technology to manage their infrastructure, technology and data assets more efficiently, thereby providing an even better service to their customers.”
Stuart Scott, OTCF framework manager at Mott MacDonald continues: “We look forward to working further with National Highways in the operational technology field, helping them to ensure that the technology used is available and secure, yet flexible enough to integrate emerging systems safely and cost-effectively.”
The framework is in place until January 2024 with extensions options of up to twenty-four months.
