Mott MacDonald has been awarded the delivery of the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) Southeast Asia Facility for Resilient Cities (SFRC). The facility aims to provide technical assistance to project preparation for investment programmes in the urban development and water sectors in ADB’s developing member countries (DMCs) in Southeast Asia. Mott MacDonald will support the operations of ADB’s Southeast Asia Regional Department (SERD) to catalyse investments in the sector of up to US$2.2 billion over the next five years.
The SFRC aims to unlock transformative benefits from the long-term partnerships with cities and countries to address key urban issues such as water security, equitable access to sanitation, flood management, and municipal solid waste services, while offering a deeper focus on liveability and social inclusiveness.
Mott MacDonald will deliver holistic solutions and assist in generating knowledge on scalable and replicable interventions across the region. In partnership with ADB and its DMCs, Mott MacDonald will deliver integrated and innovative solutions for the nurturing of liveable cities. This will be achieved through investments in resilient urban infrastructure by tackling climate change, building resilience, enhancing environmental sustainability, promoting nature-base solutions, and addressing inclusiveness and social outcomes.
Mott MacDonald’s director for the Southeast Asia Facility for Resilient Cities, Stephanie Tseng, said: “Resilient Cities is a much-needed facility to drive the delivery of ADB’s large-scale investments in the rapidly growing DMCs of Southeast Asia. In partnership with ADB, we are committed to work for the benefit of DMCs to achieve the incremental changes necessary to transform its cities into prosperous, inclusive, resilient, and sustainable place to live and work through well-prepared, high-quality infrastructure. I’m looking forward to contribute to making transformative changes in resilient investments that will impact the lives of our generations beyond.”
