Digital consulting

Driving digital transformation.

As an infrastructure owner and operator, you know that data and digital technologies can have a transformative effect on how you manage assets, serve customers, and make decisions.

However, the limitations of existing processes, siloed data and a complex supplier landscape can make it difficult to see how to bring about change.

You need a partner who understands the context in which you operate, can grasp your strategic objectives and challenges, and can help you set a direction and make plans to unlock the value of information at every level of your business.

Our experience

We’ve supported infrastructure organizations in many sectors, across both new and existing assets and systems, helping them develop strategies and practical plans to enhance their digital capabilities for better operation and outcomes. Some of our recent work has included:

  • Centre for Digital Built Britain and Connected Places Catapult, UK
Through our involvement in these cross-sector initiatives – led by our chief technology officer, Mark Enzer – we have championed the development of integrated digital twins in the built environment in the UK and beyond, establishing principles, guidelines and standards by which data management and digital connectivity can be managed and governed now and in the future.
  • Denver Water lead remediation, Colorado, USA
MMFIT, our innovative digital field inspection tool, allowed field workers to enter data on service lines into their laptop or tablet, map the data visually using geographic information systems (GIS), and automatically populate a GIS database and work order system for allocating resources.
  • Elizabeth Line, London, UK
As part of our work supporting the delivery of the Elizabeth Line, we led the integration of the railway’s digital and physical infrastructure. We brought operational technology and IT systems together in a single systems and information architecture and delivered end-to-end IT systems and remote monitoring systems that would support operational and business priorities.
  • Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, UK
We helped develop a digital strategy uniting the various operating companies in the NDA group and showed how it could become a data led, digitally enabled organisation. A digital operating model was created setting out governance of digital decisions across the organisation, and a digital skills and capabilities framework was developed, including required roles and training plans to support the upskilling of staff to make the digital strategy a reality.
  • Smart Infrastructure Index
Our online self-assessment tool for measuring the digital maturity of a business is used globally by clients worth over £385bn (US$458bn) and is used by the UK’s Infrastructure Client Group for its annual benchmarking exercise.
  • Transport for London, UK
As part of our work to transform asset management within London Underground, we highlighted a significant opportunity for TfL to make better decisions by improving its data and digital capabilities across the asset lifecycle. We benchmarked the client’s digital maturity and developed a comprehensive roadmap that would take them to their vision of a digital twin.
