Energy transformation

Transforming your approach to energy.

For large infrastructure organizations, there’s never been a more critical time to manage energy use and decarbonize your operations.

Fluctuating prices, concerns around security of supply, and changing regulations on carbon emissions can have a significant impact on profitability, resilience, and even reputation. This has brought energy use into sharp focus.

The challenge is particularly complex for those in the infrastructure space who are trying to remain competitive while securing growth. You need to consider energy use across your entire operation, from buildings to processes, vehicle fleets to machinery, while managing regulatory and stakeholder pressures.

We understand the full spectrum of these issues, and the connections between them. With our breadth and depth of experience, we can help you to navigate energy transformation to lower carbon emissions, reduce costs, generate additional revenues, build greater resilience, and enhance your competitive edge.

What can we do for you?

We design and deliver energy transformation programs for large energy users.

Transform your approach to energy

An energy transformation program is a long term, strategic initiative to significantly change energy consumption, supply and storage with the aim of cutting carbon, reducing costs, and improving energy security. It typically spans many years and covers multiple energy vectors — electricity as well as fuels such as hydrogen.

Transform your business

We can help transform your business through market positioning, improved site planning, building use and energy efficiency, along with the adoption of lower carbon technologies and processes. We’ll develop strategy and roadmaps, and provide support as you implement the changes required to your physical and digital infrastructure.

Services we provide

Leading energy transformation for a low-carbon world

Energy transformation programs have four key pillars, and we can help you with all of them.

Our experience

We have advised a range of clients on their energy transformation journeys, including:

  • Future Port Talbot, UK
We acted for Associated British Ports to develop a masterplan showing how Port Talbot could be transformed into a prime hub for floating offshore wind, contributing to the decarbonization and socioeconomic regeneration of south Wales.
  • Global Center of Rail Excellence, UK
We provided an energy strategy and decarbonization roadmap for a railway and rolling stock testing facility in Wales.
  • Heathrow Airport, London, UK
We designed a program for Europe’s busiest airport to help it meet its carbon reduction target of 2.3Mt by the end of 2026, and to transform the business and its supply chain towards becoming net zero by 2050.
  • Ministry of Energy, Small Business & Entrepreneurship, Barbados
We developed roadmaps and carried out feasibility studies to support the Caribbean island in its plans to achieve 100% renewable energy by 2030.
  • National Highways, UK
We created a route map for how the UK’s road owner and operator could reduce carbon emissions from construction and maintenance activities to net zero by 2040, in partnership with its supply chain.
  • South Fork Wind, NY, USA
South Fork Wind was designed to generate power at a wind farm 56 km (35 miles) from Montauk Point on Long Island, NY. We designed the landfall, performed a 4D model (three dimensions plus time) of the HDD operations and tie-ins, as well as inspection services during construction. We prepared design drawings and construction contract documents to support permitting and procurement of construction contractors.

Smart Energy

Bring your asset inventory, management and problem, or claims reporting into one place to save time and resources. Asset Advance integrates the reporting of problems by the public, agencies or your own staff with dispatch of repair crews, crew reporting, inventory management, asset management, and claims recovery. Data on public record requests and disaster fund recovery is also included.

People and Planet

People and Planet demonstrates and quantifies social and environmental outcomes. It combines publicly available data with project data to assess social and environmental factors alongside project priorities. Risks and opportunities are displayed on maps and dashboards, empowering decisions that create long-term benefits for people and the planet.
