Maritime

Supporting defense at sea.

The infrastructure programs and projects that support maritime defense are critical to its effectiveness.

Maintaining support for today’s fleet while preparing for tomorrow’s challenges requires you to meet immediate operational needs while planning for the long term.

You need partners and a supply chain that you can trust to design, construct, and manage supporting defense infrastructure efficiently and effectively.

What can we do for you?

As a multidisciplinary consultancy, we bring knowledge, experience, and expertise from across our global business to optimize the performance of maritime defense programs or projects.

We offer:

Clarity of vision

Our strategic advisory services help you focus on key requirements, understand blockers and enablers, and set a coherent, well-resourced strategy for meeting your goals.

Transformative delivery

We help our clients achieve an evolution in project delivery, asset operation, and performance, and by doing so improve operational readiness, cost efficiency, and resilience.

Technical excellence

Our world-class engineers get under the skin of the unique demands of each shipyard, port, coastal site, or federal project, to design and build the right infrastructure in the right way. From digital solutions to carbon measurement, our excellence in these fields achieves better delivery for end users, frontline command, and the people this infrastructure protects.

Lasting value

By consulting with end users and stakeholders, building the skills of the local supply chain and workforce, and considering the lifecycle of assets in design decisions, we can help you make lasting improvements for service personnel and their families, plus the communities they serve, alongside national security.

Services we provide

Engineering excellence for modern maritime defense

We work across the lifecycle of maritime defense infrastructure, offering integrated design, engineering, and management solutions that support our clients where it is most needed.

Our experience

We have decades of experience working on maritime defense programs across the globe. Our recent work has included:

  • Devonport Royal Dockyard, UK
In partnership with Costain we are the delivery partner, supporting site owner, and operator for the 10 Dock Program and major infrastructure projects at Devonport Royal Dockyard near Plymouth.
  • HMAS Stirling, Perth, Australia
As part of the AUKUS defense partnership between the UK, US, and Australia, we’re supporting the developing infrastructure needs for the new Dreadnought and SSN-AUKUS class submarines, including the upgrade of an existing submarine base in Western Australia to increase its capability to host nuclear-powered submarines.
  • HMNB Clyde, UK
For over a decade we’ve been a key partner to the Defence Infrastructure Organisation in delivering the Faslane Nuclear Infrastructure Continuous Availability Program, updating the docks and facilities that service the UK’s fleet of nuclear submarines.
  • Pinto Island Naval Shipyard, Alabama, USA
We led the design for this design-build contract to construct a 30,000-sq.-ft. (2,800-sq.-m) administrative building to consolidate Navy personnel from three separate physical locations who were overseeing ship-building operations.
  • US Navy military installations
Mott MacDonald and STV were selected to perform architectural and engineering services for traffic and transportation planning projects at military installations across the Mid-Atlantic region.
  • Seawall at West Potomac Park, Washington, DC, USA
Adjacent to the National Mall, West Potomac Park extends from the Lincoln Memorial to the grounds of the Washington Monument. As part of a design-build team, we were selected to design and construct repairs to failing seawalls at the park, along the Tidal Basin and Potomac River.

Intelligent Content

Intelligent Content provides a managed library of information-rich, parametric BIM objects that can be reused instead of recreated, and optimized with each successive use. A team of experts creates and quality-checks all objects, reducing model development time and enabling the rapid prototyping of designs.

Safe by Design

Safe by Design visualizes a project in 3D. Hazards can be geolocated, categorized, scored, and filtered. Risks are represented geospatially by hazard warning triangles. It provides a single source of information, enabling focused conversations with stakeholders. Dashboard visualization makes it easy to set and track key performance indicators and to benchmark performance against similar projects.
