The Opportunity  

Our Project Strategy & Delivery team in Sydney is looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager (Technical Director) to support the delivery of our committed work, and growing pipeline of prospects for government and institutional clients.

 

The role will focus on supporting Mott MacDonald and partner teams on design and construction delivery in growing energy, water and defence infrastructure. The role may also extend to the buildings and transportation sectors. You will be joining as a senior member of diverse team of project delivery consultants who work alongside our design teams. are passionate about what they do, with a proven track record guiding our clients, and leading delivery of our most critical projects. 

 

Depending on your specific expertise, your responsibilities will include various aspects of: 

 

  • Provide strategic, technical, and commercial advice to inform both our project team or our clients’ decision making at various phases in a transport, health and / or education project including strategy and planning, business case development, and during transactions
  • Manage and lead client relationships providing strategic, technical, and commercial advice to inform our clients’ decision making across various phases of the project lifecycle including strategy and planning, business case development, transactions, design development, delivery, and post-handover.  
  • Developing, in collaboration with project advisors and our technical team, client contract packages for various elements of project delivery.
  • Develop, manage and implement a detailed project plan that ensures the achievement of key objectives, including scope, budget, schedule, and quality standards
  • Manage both internal and external project teams to deliver high quality outcomes for our clients and Mott MacDonald across multiple sectors including (but not limited to): transport, health, education, and defence.
  • Experience in work winning, including the identification of opportunities and the processes and techniques to secure work.
  • An inclusive and collaborative working style.

 

About You 

As a senior member of the team, you will have focused on improving project outcomes for both your clients and our projects. You will have; 

 

  • Experience in design and delivery stages of a complex infrastructure project management lifecycle, ideally both as a client-side and client-facing PM.
  • Practical experience supporting project development, design, construction, safety management, environmental approvals and compliance, procurement and contract management, community and stakeholder engagement, delivery and completion processes, and handover to operations and/or asset owner.
  • Understand key technical requirements and identify deliverables and outcomes required to fulfil the client’s scope.
  • Understand goals and metrics that drive business, financial and project performance and manages scope and time of self and others to optimise team performance and efficiency.
  • Contemporary relationships with the Australian contractor sector and/or NSW/ACT-based infrastructure owner and delivery entities.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal with people, project and time management skills.
  • Qualifications relevant to project management, construction management or similar
