Mott MacDonald is a dynamic and innovative engineering, management and development consultancy working with high profile clients across Australia and globally. We're the driving force behind some of Australia's most iconic infrastructural ventures that are transforming the way we live, work, and play.

Develop your career within our highly successful global business and work with our local and national colleagues. With a growing pipeline of work in the transport, water, energy and defence spaces, we are seeking a highly motivated individual that wants to be part of a growing team!

The opportunity

We are looking for talented people from a variety of backgrounds to apply for a role as a Systems Integration and Testing Engineer to be a part of our growing Australian Systems Engineering and Integration team. Our offering is unique - Infrastructure projects often struggle to integrate to the existing network which leads to delays or poor outcomes; they require assistance to get their projects into operation. Our team meets this need through providing projects with expertise in Systems Integration, Testing & Commissioning, Progressive Systems Assurance, and Operations & Maintenance Integration. We work to ensure these projects deliver the best possible outcome for the project, the operator, and the passengers.

The role is diverse, and your key responsibility will vary project to project, but you can expect to be performing project-specific Systems Integration duties across a range of clients, which may include:

  • Applying technical expertise in rail operations and maintenance to mitigate safety and operational issues, and delivering systems engineering and integration capabilities on complex rail projects.
  • Developing plans, programs of work, and supporting the delivery of operational testing (Trial Operations) activities.
  • Creating operational readiness and rehearsal plans, processes, and technical systems integration strategies, plans, and roadmaps.
  • Deriving technical requirements, application conditions, and task definitions from operational and maintenance concepts.
  • Developing test plans, test cases, procedures, schedules, and resources for various test campaigns, including lab tests, on-site technical testing, and operational trials.
  • Linking test cases/evidence to source requirements and risks, and visualizing and reporting on this traceability coverage.
  • Defining, facilitating, and evaluating Test Readiness Reviews.
  • Using IBM test tools to deliver T&C artefacts and activities.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree with experience in managing large, complex projects, particularly on the right side of the V model.
  • Proven experience in the comprehensive integration of complex systems, from low-level units and subsystems to end-to-end and operational integration.
  • Capable of overseeing project testing and commissioning strategies, prioritizing and sequencing tests, verifying requirements, and determining personnel and equipment needs.
  • Strong understanding of Systems Engineering principles, including the interplay between operations, systems assurance, safety, verification and validation (V&V), and their roles in integration, testing, and commissioning.
  • Proficiency in using and driving IBM Engineering Lifecycle Management is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with CBTC and/or ETCS operations is a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to accurately convey progress and issues at all levels within Consultant, Contractor, and Client organizations.
