Mott MacDonald is a global engineering, management and development consultancy. We are a leading consultancy within Malaysia and due to continued growth, we have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and driven Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer to join our Buildings sector.  
 
As a Senior or Principal Electrical Engineer, you will be experienced in the design and specification of electrical services within buildings but also keen to expand your remit. You will be technically strong, commercially astute with a keen desire to operate at the forefront of your profession. You’ll embrace change, operate in an agile manner and bring an entrepreneurial approach to your work.

You’ll be part of a dynamic and progressive team who is looking to continue to work on some of the most iconic, interesting and innovative projects ensuring they have a long lasting positive social impact. The Opportunity

  • Design development of Electrical Services (LV & ELV) in various stage of building and/or other projects, including tender, conceptual and detail design stages; contract documentation, authority submissions, contract administration, attending site meetings. 

  • Providing design calculations, drawings, reports, and specifications. 

  • Hands on electrical services design for a range of projects and able to operate as an electrical services designer role for medium and large-scale projects. 

  • To assist reviewing and preparation of general and specifications or project, review contractor’s shop drawing and alternative design proposal. 

  • Liaise with other discipline designers to resolve design development. 

  • Supporting the firm’s compliance in maintaining ISO 9001, OHSAS 18001 and ISO 14001 requirement. 

  • Delivery of projects and ensure that technical deliverables are on-time and within budget 

  • Play an active role contributing to technical excellence in our Electrical Practice. 

  • Opportunity to develop further as a leader and as a subject matter specialist. Lead and mentor graduate/junior engineers. 

 

Key requirements (certain qualifications, accreditations, software experience etc) 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering and or related field. 

  • 5+ years of experience in electrical engineering/building services industry in a consulting firm essential. Candidates with more years of experience may be considered for a more senior-level position within the team.    

  • Working towards professional or chartered engineering status. 

  • Understanding of local regulatory and code requirements. 

  • Motivated and enthusiastic with a growth mindset. 

  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with a proven ability to communicate complex issues and concepts clearly, succinctly and with influence. 

  • Excellent time management and multi-tasking skills. 

  • A strong digital solutions drive with an interest and enthusiasm for sustainability. 

  • Commercially astute with good client facing acumen who is open to new ideas and innovation.
