About the business unit:
The Buildings Unit (BLD) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.
Overview of role:
Mott MacDonald is seeking Senior MEP Engineer for providing project and cost management services of a data centre project in Ankara. The candidate will oversee the on-site mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) aspects of the construction, ensuring successful delivery while meeting all technical, quality, and safety standards.
Responsibilities
• Manage and oversee MEP aspects of the data centre construction project, coordinating and following up with contractors and all stakeholders.
• Ensure that MEP system installation is in compliance with approved contract documents, technical specifications, all relevant codes, standards, and regulations for MEP systems (e.g., HVAC, Plumbing, Electrical, Low Voltage, Fire Sprinkler).
• Provide technical guidance and support to the project team.
• Review design changes and conduct MEP-related impact analysis.
• Manage long lead procurement for MEP systems and equipment.
• Responsible for ensuring safety, schedule delivery, quality of work, and adherence to the project budget.
• Identify MEP-related project risks and recommend mitigation methods.
• Support contractor’s commissioning and integrated system testing processes.
• Prepare and review technical documentation, specifications, and reports.
• Monitor project progress and support the project team in reporting project progress and financials through regular updates.
• Chair periodic MEP Construction Meetings with project stakeholders.
Candidate Specification:
• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, electrical, or a related engineering field.
• Strong knowledge and understanding of data centre components, including cooling systems, power distribution, backup systems etc.
• Demonstrated experience in project management and in project management software and tools.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
• Fluent in English and Turkish.
It would be preferable but not required to also have the following specifications:
• Master’s degree in project management, PMP certification or similar project management certification.
• Experience working on international projects.
• Knowledge on Uptime Institute Tier Certification process.
