Title:                    Engineer IV – Geotechnical Numerical Project Engineer

Location:             2077 Gateway Place, Suite 550, San Jose, CA, 95110

 

 

Duties: Lead tasks for geotechnical numerical modeling projects that involve data evaluation and engineering analysis. Scope and assist in implementation of field programs as they relate to data collection for numerical analysis. Direct engineering activities, ensuring compliance with environmental, safety, or other governmental regulations. Complete design analyses for infrastructure projects including bridges, pavements, ports, water/wastewater, dams, tunnels, and other geo-structures. Compute load and grade requirements, water flow rates, or material stress factors to determine design specifications. Lead tasks including technical analyses/calculations including liquefaction evaluation, static and seismic slope stability, settlement, and deep and shallow foundation bearing capacity. Prepare numerical analysis reports. Review structural and civil plans and specifications. Test soils or materials to determine the adequacy and strength of foundations, concrete, asphalt, or steel. Review the work of and mentor entry level numerical modeling and analytical staff. Present results of geotechnical numerical analyses to other engineers, client representatives, stakeholders, and expert peer review panels. Position reports into San Jose, CA office; however, telecommuting from a home office may also be allowed. 20% domestic or regional travel for site data collection efforts, client meetings, and occasional conference attendance.


Requirements:  Requires a Master’s in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Geotechnical Engineering, or a directly related field plus four (4) years of experience as an Engineer, or other occupation/position/job title involving engineering experience with a geotechnical concentration in both design and field operations.

 

Experience may be gained concurrently and must include two (2) years in each of the following:

  • Geotechnical software including Plaxis, LS DYNA, GeoStudio packages, Slide, Ensoft packages, DEEPSOIL, or Flac
  • Geotechnical and geological field investigation and data collection
  • Geotechnical analyses of slope stability, liquefaction, or foundations

 

Experienced may gained before, during, or after advanced degree.

 

Qualified candidates must possess a Professional Engineer license.
