Owing to the expansion of our Defence portfolio we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager.

The successful applicant will exhibit a keen enthusiasm for collaborating with our client teams to ensure the successful delivery of their complex projects on schedule, within budget, and to high-quality standards, while upholding a strong commitment to safety. This exceptional opportunity provides the successful candidate with exposure to complex and vital defence infrastructure projects in the UK.

 

What you will contribute to the team;  

  • Ability to develop contracting and procurement strategies. 
  • Producing tender and contract documentation. 
  • Leading and managing tender processes. 
  • Managing significant contracts, including contractual obligations.  
  • Negotiating with Industry including pricing negotiations, contract terms, risk and reward as well as establishing Intellectual Property Rights.  
  • Developing commercial governance procedures, processes and systems. 
  • Managing eSourcing and/or eEvaluation systems. 
  • Providing administrative duties on contracts and procurement processes for client team 
  • Adhering to appropriate Public Procurement Regulations.  
  • Working effectively with stakeholders, inside and outside of client organisation, to ensure successful outcomes and wider team deliverables.  
  • Coach, develop and supervise commercial staff and sharing knowledge and expertise. 

 

Required for the Senior Commercial Manager position;

  • Quantity Surveying degree or other commercially related discipline or relevant extensive experience in Programme and Project commercial pre and post contract activities, including all activities associated with Cost Management
  • Ideally Chartered MRICS or working towards chartered status (MRICS) 
  • Proven track record in commercial delivery, gained in complex sectors in either a Cost Consultancy or Main Contracting Environment
  • Demonstrable knowledge and application of commercial management methodologies, including NEC4 and NEC3. 
  • Ability to operate both autonomously and as part of a larger team 
  • Flexibility to travel and work in different sectors and clients 
  • Working knowledge of commercial management software and tools
  • Good research and analytical skills 
  • Excellent oral and written communication and organisation skills 
  • Essential Soft skills include, leadership, flexibility, self-motivation, effective listening, persuasion, creativity, collaborative style, insightfulness 
  • Please be advised that offers for this role are conditional upon obtaining the appropriate level of Security Clearance.

 

Preferred but not required;

  • Commercial Delivery experience in the defence sector
  • Existing security clearance (SC or higher)
