About the business unit

The Energy unit delivers services to clients globally across several sectors including hydropower, nuclear, waste, renewable generation and transmission & distribution networks. Together we provide integrated engineering and project management services across the project lifecycle – from concept and design to construction and operations, to decommissioning or repowering and life extension. Together with our clients, we’re helping to deliver the energy transition globally.

 

About the Role

We are looking for a Project Manager to join our Energy Unit within the Nuclear, Civil, and Defence division. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work in a technically complex industry while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams and clients to achieve successful project outcomes and grow your career.

 

This is a technical project management role within the nuclear industry and involves delivering projects within a highly regulated environment, ensuring safety, quality, cost, and schedule meet or exceed the project baseline. This role requires strong communication skills, with a focus on effective project delivery, risk management, and adherence to safety and quality standards.


Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage quality, schedule, and cost for the project scope to meet the agreed baseline.
  • Deliver and execute effective project strategies and plans using fundamental project delivery tools.
  • Identify and manage project risks, ensuring appropriate mitigation strategies are in place.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable safety, environmental, quality, and regulatory standards, prioritising nuclear safety at all times.
  • Communicate team performance, risks, and issues to stakeholders accurately and on time.
  • Monitor project design progress within agreed schedules, preparing earned value analysis and progress reports.
  • Apply earned value principles, explain variances, and discuss mitigation or recovery plans with stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with CDM regulations, legislation, and engineering standards.
  • Participate in design reviews, HAZOPs, and provide project control and administrative support as required.
  • Work closely with project and engineering managers, as well as other project disciplines.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships both internally and externally.

 

 

Candidate specification

 

 

  • Experience influencing engineering practices and project outcomes, ideally in highly regulated industries such as nuclear.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Relevant qualification, ideally in project management or engineering.
  • Accredited with a recognised body (e.g., APM, RICS).
