Following recent major project wins, including North East Link and other major project opportunities, our Transport business is seeking an experienced Civil Design Manager in Victoria to manage and deliver Iconic Australian projects, where you’ll have the opportunity to shape and grow our design management offering, and support growth within our wider transport team, focusing on embedding technical excellence at the core of everything we do.

 

Your Opportunity 

 

The Civil Design Engineer/Manager role will provide assistance to the development and building business unit by way of quality engineering design work relating to civil, rail/road, structures and geotechnical functions. You will be responsible in providing advice on all engineering design matters to a range of stakeholders and investigating civil infrastructure related problems.

 

Depending on your specific expertise, your responsibilities will include various aspects of: 

 

  • Manage design projects and oversee work packages, including the preparation and management of designs, reports, specifications, and other deliverables for transport projects.
  • Manage multi-disciplinary design coordination: basic understanding of civil, rail/road, structures and geotechnical interfaces and dependencies 
  • Coordinate design review activities with internal and external stakeholders to meet program and quality requirements
  • Ability to view and interrogate digital design information (2D, 3D and ProjectWise attributes/workflow)
  • Diligent approach to quality assurance including team selection, competency management, and design requirements allocation/verification

 

About you 

 

  • Degree in civil engineering or equivalent qualifications
  • Experience in Transport infrastructure engineering and design.
  • Experience in chairing Safety in Design workshops and applying SFAIRP arguments, including for standard waivers / derogations
  • Familiarity with typical client and stakeholder requirements (stage gates, comment close-out, appropriate level of design maturity)
  • Understand key technical requirements and identify deliverables and outcomes required to fulfil the client’s scope.
  • Client relationship / management skills and experience.
