Mott MacDonald is seeking an Office Engineer to support construction projects in Los Angeles. 

 

Duties include but are not limited to:

  • Assists in the following:  Preparation of modifications/change orders, preparation of cost analysis and pre-negotiation plans, evaluation, and resolution of claims.
  • participating in preparation of reports and other correspondence; interfacing with contractors and agency personnel; and other related work and duties.
  • Tracking changes and updating of change logs.
  • Support development of technical scope for design and construction
  • Assists client as required on negotiation of changes with contractor
  • Research of contract documents to determine merit of the design / construction change.  
  • Prepare Rough order magnitude (ROM) cost estimates for changes
  • Review contractor’s T&M information and prepare draft Technical Evaluation
  • Coordinate work with Metro Estimation team and Contract Administration
  • Support Metro Contracts Team and other Departments as required

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree Preferred – Engineering, Construction Management, Business or other related field is desirable.
  • Minimum of five (5) years’ experience performing technical support and evaluation of lump sum or provisional sum (time and materials) changes ranging from small to complex changes on large construction projects, and related contracts administration work.
  • Experience on design-build contracts desired
  • Working in a responsible position where an individual has knowledge of construction work progress and an understanding of how contract changes, additional work and schedule delays affect the contractor’s scope and work progress.  
  • Field experience with an understanding of construction change process is desirable.
  • Ability to review and understand Construction Plans and specifications
  • Valid California Class C Driver License

Salary Range: $87,000- $106,000
