Mott MacDonald is looking for a Marine and Ports Structures Engineer for our Delray Beach office. Mott MacDonald is a full-service engineering company focusing on port, harbor, and maritime projects including navigation and the protection and restoration of coastlines. The role offers the opportunity to have a career with the premier employer in the marine ports and coastal engineering industry. Typical projects include planning and designing waterfront in-water and upland infrastructure and facilities for commercial marine fuel, cargo and cruise terminals, marinas, navigation channels, and waterways in the United States and the Caribbean.


Responsibilities include: 

  • Perform engineering analysis and design with a focus on ports and maritime infrastructure for commercial, industrial, recreational, and government facilities, including fuel/gas, container/ bulk, and cruise/ferry terminal layout and multi-disciplinary design management 
  • Participate in structural and multi-disciplinary design ranging from classical design and finite element, and high-resolution modeling analysis activities for a wide variety of marine projects.
  • Providing analysis, preliminary, and detailed design, and construction phase tender and oversight tasks of ports and maritime facilities 
  • Develop planning and design-level drawings, specifications, and construction documents 
  • Develop technical reports to provide to senior-level work products
  • Perform site visits to support inspection and/or construction engineering activities.  

 

We invite applications from candidates with the following experience: 

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering or related field 
    • Post-graduate degree in Civil and/or Structural Engineering preferred 
  • Minimum of 2-5+ years’ experience with projects related to marine infrastructure and terminal operations for commercial, industrial, and public use facilities 
  • Demonstrated technical and analytical skills 
  • Ability to develop plans and specifications for construction projects 
  • Ability to interface with clients 
  • Demonstrated technical writing and presentation skills 
  • Working experience within multi-disciplinary projects and teams. 
  • Ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint to produce project-related documents 
  • Ability to support business development efforts 

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Professional Engineer, preferably registered in FL, or ability to obtain upon reaching experience requirements and successful PE examination.
  • Knowledge (proficiency preferred) of industry analysis software such as LPILE, CWALSHT, SAP200, Mathcad, and OPTIMOOR, etc. 
  • Structural engineering background through education and/or experience
  • Experience in structural design of marine structures such as bulkheads, marina floats, piers, boat ramps, berthing and mooring systems; and/or marine terminal buildings, yards, aprons, etc. 
  • Must have, or be able to obtain a TWIC 
  • Motivated individual with the desire to in a teamwork environment of highly skilled and quality-oriented engineers
