We are embarking on an exciting journey to build a greater presence within North America and increase our market share. We are looking to identify an exceptional leader to undertake the newly created role of Major Projects Leader – Tunnels in New York City.​ This is a unique opportunity to leverage our significant heritage of major tunnel projects and further our market position within New York City. This role will be focused on building on our relationships with our key clients and the successful leadership of major projects.

 

Key responsibilities

 

  • You will focus leading Mott MacDonald’s effort to pursue major tunnels/underground pursuits in the New York City market. You will bring further awareness of our capabilities to the North American marketplace, building on our successful tunnels experience in the Northeast and leveraging other related discipline skillsets to grow the Mott MacDonald scope on these projects.​
  • Partner with Mott MacDonald’s Business Development Managers, other Practices within Mott MacDonald, and Regional and Global Tunnels Practice Leaders to help drive business development by leveraging their existing contacts and relationships with key clients in the Northeast.​
  • Act as a Project Leader in the delivery of major tunnel projects, providing account leadership, project management and technical advisory and oversight on projects as required.​
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues across Mott MacDonald, acting as an exemplary role model, articulating and representing the brand, vision, and value proposition internally and externally. ​
  • Support the identification of external talent by leveraging your professional network helping to attract, engage, and appoint high-caliber candidates.
  • You will bring best practices and knowledge into Mott MacDonald’s North American business by connecting with key subject matter experts worldwide within and outside of Mott MacDonald.​
  • You will provide direction, mentorship and guidance to account leaders, technical, operational and junior members of staff in best practices, business development, proposal development and project delivery. ​
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with key clients, stakeholders, and industry partners, including serving as the primary point of contact for clients during the capture and delivery phases, building trust, understanding client needs, and addressing concerns. ​
  • Demonstrate exemplar leadership in  maintaining the ethical standards and values of Mott MacDonald within the Unit, ensuring a zero tolerance of unacceptable behaviors.​
  • Ensure the correct governance policies, procedures and standards are implemented and achieved within the Unit.​
  • Foster an environment where best practices on health, safety and wellbeing are embedded as default.

 

About you

 

  • You have experience leading tunnel proposals, pursuits and mega projects within the NY market. You will possess excellent knowledge of upcoming, landmark tunnelling / underground opportunities locally.​
  • You will possess a deep understanding of delivering successful tunneling / underground projects, particularly transit-related tunnel and facility rehabilitation.​
  • Experience collaborating and delivering projects with general contractors, especially in Design-Build and Alternative Delivery models.​
  • You possess a high level of competency in client and business development strategies, to effectively capture and obtain mega project work.​
  • You are able to lead project teams through a collaborative approach and provide mentorship to employees. ​
  • You’ll possess technical and commercial expertise, emphasizing design, budget, schedule, and quality. ​
  • You are a visible leader who possesses exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.​
  • You’re able to articulate your point of view with ease and comfortable presenting to a variety of different stakeholders (peers, clients, executive leadership).​
  • You’re a positive person who understands and appreciates the overarching vision and knows how to continuously work towards it.​
  • You’re able to identify areas of improvement and implement projects, policies and procedures to address.​
  • You have most likely progressed your career from a technical background and continue to possess a NY PE license.

 

Salary Range: $250,000 - $300,000
