Working alongside the Unit Finance Manager and Divisional Manager, the Divisional Accountant is responsible for overseeing all GDE finance operations.
Key responsibilities and duties are listed, but not limited to, the below:
- Responsibility for the financial reporting (FiFi/CB) and internal controls in the Division.
- Management of working capital to ensuring prompt processing of invoicing; including maintenance of a billing diary, investigation and clearance of any invoicing queries.
- Review overhead expenditures and charges, investigating entries and resolving/understanding transactions and variances.
- Review project performance and provide actions and guidance to project managers and support to DGM during month-end financial close periods.
- Assist in the maintenance of project controls and finance training of engineers to enable them to understand and interpret financial information, ensuring accurate project budgeting and revenue recognition.
- Regular meetings with Unit Finance Manager to assist in the review of Country specific finance issues. Provide financial information for stakeholders as required.
- Supervision of the production of annual budgets and forecasts at Portfolio/ Country level, and consolidation to Division level.
- Monthly review of actual performance to budget and provide variance explanations.
- Assisting Divisional Manager with preparation and evaluation of business plans and project proposals.
- Responsible for production and interpretation of monthly management accounts for the Division; controlling financial performance by monitoring and improving project profitability, staff utilisation and overheads control, and cash flow management.
Candidate Specification
- Part qualified or newly qualified accountant with relevant experience
- Proven ability to produce accurate management reports to tight deadlines
- Strong analytical ability with effective communication and interpersonal skills
- Fluent English (both written and verbal).
- Willingness to undertake business travel as required.
