About the business unit  
The Buildings and Cities Unit (BNC) has a major presence in Mott MacDonald's regional offices throughout the UK and mainland Europe, providing a wide range of diverse and transferable cross-sector skills across five key Sectors; Advisory, Built Environment, Energy, Transportation and Water. We also provide local services to customers and technical leadership to the rest of the Group in these sectors.  


About the role

We are seeking a Biodiversity Consultant to work within the Environmental and Social team in Turkiye. The role requires working on site for Wind Power Plants located in western part of Turkiye, conducting construction and operation biodiversity management with ornithology and mortality studies. 

 

You will be responsible for providing ecological and biodiversity inputs to a range of projects, working closely with other disciplines to ensure ecological objectives for projects are delivered successfully, within budget and to programme. The tasks will include full-time construction and operation monitoring on biodiversity elements for Wind Power Plants located in western part of Turkiye. The tasks will also include monitoring biodiversity commitments as part of EIA, ESIA, ESAP, BMP, BAP documents, survey/monitoring methods, liaising with and coordinating local consultants, and preparing monitoring reports. 

 

The successful candidate will need/have:

  • Degree in ecology, biology, zoology, botany or directly related subject (MSc preferred) 
  • Proven field experience, demonstrable birdwatching and identification skills (knowledge of other taxa is an asset)
  • Several years of experience in undertaking biodiversity survey/monitoring and documentation (species identification, correct use of field recording sheets and maps, photography skills preferred)
  • Preference for working independently at rural and remote settings, and with supervision from other Turkiye offices
  • Familiarity with the main international and lender (in particular IFC Performance Standard 6) policy and guidance on biodiversity and nature conservation
  • Experience in undertaking construction and operation monitoring and management to international finance institutions’ biodiversity-related standards -Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Good computer skills, ability to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Google Drive and Sheets, efficiently for data entry
  • Good inter-personal skills with the ability to integrate into existing teams, and keep well connected with remote colleagues of other disciplines
  • Willingness to travel and undertake fieldwork in Turkiye
  • Active driving skills (advanced driving training for safety and security is an asset)
  • Good adoption skills to new and challenging environments.
