Biography

What do you enjoy about working here?

The projects we work on are a force for good, and we make an impact by working together. I enjoy solving technically complex challenges.

Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

My specialism is planning and design of marine infrastructure for ports, navigation assessments and masterplanning. The majority of my experience is with large container terminals, multi-use ports and ports that serve the offshore wind market.

I chose this specialism to make a real difference through the work I do – it’s diverse, challenging and fast-paced. No two projects are the same and we get to work on projects in many corners of the world.

Describe what the Mott Mac Life means to you in three words

Family, excellence, balance

How do you contribute to Mott MacDonald making a difference to people and planet?

Marine structures – ports – sit between the ever-changing seas and our need to connect with the rest of the world (through trade and travel). Things most of us use or own have been at some point on a vessel, maybe they started or ended their journey at a port we worked at.

Through our work, we create the infrastructure that generates opportunities for local communities and gives access to food, energy and materials.

Where in the world has your role taken you?

I’ve travelled to Somaliland and the Caribbean (Dominican Republic, The Bahamas), and have worked on projects in Jamaica, Bermuda and on the west coast of Africa (Ghana, Senegal), as well as all over the UK and Jersey (Channel Islands).

What are your career highlights and achievements?

We regularly design infrastructure to accommodate the “largest” vessel types (be it cruise or container vessels), massive tidal ranges around our coastal waters or to overcome the challenges of withstanding class five hurricanes in the Caribbean.

Currently, I am the marine structures design lead for Future Port Talbot, a key port intended to unlock the floating offshore wind generation in the Celtic Sea.
