Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

I’m a chartered project director with over 30 years of experience in complex defence and transport major projects around the world, most recently in Australia. As a Veteran, I feel passionately about the freedom and choice that a secure region provides. Our work in defence sits at the heart of this, and Mott MacDonald’s purpose. Providing service personnel with the facilities and capabilities they need motivates and inspires me. I enjoy working alongside my colleagues and using our extensive experience and capabilities to do this.

How has your career progressed since joining?

Australia is an amazing place to live, and I arrived at the start of an infrastructure boom that aimed to provide Australians with what they needed for their country to thrive. This has seen me play a central role in growing our major project delivery capability.

I started by leading bids for major transport projects before taking on a wider remit that included providing infrastructure planning advice, environmental and sustainability services and digital capabilities.

More recently, I have found myself delivering major projects in defence aviation and maritime domains, and bringing the experience we have gained from the UK’s submarine programme to Australia in support of AUKUS.

What are your career highlights and achievements?

My career since leaving the Defence Forces has been predominantly as a leader in major complex projects. The highlights have been shaping the future strategy of High Speed Two, growing a major projects capability in Australia, including winning the EDA contract on Sydney Metro, and more recently breaking into an incredibly competitive defence market, bringing the best of Mott MacDonald to the AUKUS program and other amazing projects in Australia.
