Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

I work within the Group strategy team. This involves leading on a range of strategic initiatives and forward planning for the business.

In terms of why I chose it – curiosity! An opportunity to join the team was advertised while I was working in international development here at Mott MacDonald. It sounded intriguing and I’ve always loved critical thinking, so I went for it.

How do you contribute to Mott MacDonald making a difference to people and planet?

Alongside my work in strategy, I also have a dedicated role supporting the progression of equality, diversity and inclusion (EDI). Working alongside HR and EDI managers, I have time each month to review and plan how we nurture a diverse workforce, and ensure talents are harnessed through equitable processes and inclusive behaviours.

How has your career progressed since joining?

As mentioned, I previously worked within international development here at Mott MacDonald. I had a leadership role within our international education portfolio, based in sub-Saharan Africa, and absolutely loved the opportunity to make a real and tangible impact on children’s lives.

After having worked in the field for 25 years, both here and at other organisations, I was ready for a change and a new challenge! It's great that career mobility and making sideways moves to different teams and parts of the business is encouraged here. I’ve really enjoyed engaging with the wider business and contributing my perspective to ensuring Mott MacDonald is ready to thrive whatever the future brings!
