Biography

What do you enjoy about working here?

The opportunity to collaborate closely with many different disciplines and people across the globe on projects that serve our communities. I also enjoy that I learn something from everyone I encounter, as everyone brings different backgrounds, experience and perspectives.

Tell us about your specialism and why you chose it

I have always enjoyed technical problem solving and working with people. I was exposed to engineering by my dad growing up so it seemed like a great choice when going to university. I ended up in rail and transit as there was an opportunity in 2012 when I graduated, and I had an interest based on my daily interaction with transit.

Describe what the Mott Mac Life means to you in three words

Inclusion, empowerment and excellence

How do you contribute to Mott MacDonald making a difference to people and planet?

I work on (rail) transit projects which are community building and shaping projects. By designing and implementing a transit project it means more people have access to transit and being able to navigate their daily lives. Transit also means shifting people from single occupancy vehicles, reducing emissions.

How do you demonstrate Technical Excellence in your work?

As the project manager for TransLink Rail Expansion Program, I lead and encourage our team to keep Technical Excellence front of mind. To do this I lead by example and work to have processes in place that allow them to thrive in delivering their work.

It also comes down to understanding the intent and expectations of what we are delivering and how it is to be used by our client and stakeholders.

What are your career highlights and achievements?

A top achievement was being named Young Professional of Year for the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of British Columbia (ACEC-BC) in 2023. It was recognition of the culmination of my career and contributions to date and included recommendation letters and input from colleagues, clients and senior leaders.

Are you involved in any additional initiatives at Mott MacDonald, aside from your day-to-day role?

Beyond my day-to-day role I am involved in supporting and conducting project review for the Canada unit. I have previously been involved in several initiatives that have included:

  • Transport sector ECP (Sept 2019 – Dec 2021)
  • ECP Vancouver committee (20212 to 20219)
  • EDI/Advance network as Canada unit rep (2018 – 2022)

I am also involved in industry organisations such as ACEC-BC Transportation Conference Planning Committee.
