The best thing about working at Mott MacDonald is the variety of projects, team culture and support which is available across the business.
I have a civil and structural engineering background. I spent approximately six years working as a civil and structural engineer gaining experience of building design and civil infrastructure. My current role as project manager oversees a multi-discipline team on buildings projects. I chose to become a project manager as I enjoy the responsibility and challenge of leading a team to achieve the ‘bigger picture’ goals and delivering value for our clients and the community which they serve.

I was attracted to Mott MacDonald as a graduate based on the excellent variety of projects on offer and how these projects make a positive difference in our society. I was also attracted to the employee ownership model as I believe this fosters accountable and ethical decision making.
I joined as a civil engineering graduate in 2013. Since then, I have had excellent exposure to a wide range of projects, from wind farms and hydropower schemes to flood risk assessments and building structures.
I became a chartered civil engineer in 2018 and this allowed me to take on more senior roles and responsibilities on my projects, leading to my current role as a project manager.
I have learned a great deal but some key points include to not make assumptions, listen more than you speak and always act with integrity, as this builds trust and forges relationships that last.
I’m committed to continuous improvement within my own personal development, such as professional accreditation, and supporting colleagues with their goals.
Whilst most of my work is UK-based, I have had the opportunity to work on projects across the world including Scandinavia, Africa and the Falkland Islands.
I’m proud to have graduated with a first-class master’s degree, obtained chartership with the Institution of Civil Engineers and have been accepted as a full member of the Association for Project Management.
I’m also proud to have led a fantastic project team over the past five years which is nearing completion on site.
