In my global technical role, I am very much driven by the ever-increasing challenges of reducing embodied carbon, and the need to improve outcomes for society, whilst striving for technical excellence.

Biography

Amber is Mott MacDonald’s global practice leader for water-retaining structures. As a chartered civil engineer specialising in structural engineering with over 41 years' experience (38 at Mott MacDonald) and 26 years in the water industry, Amber brings an extensive wealth of knowledge and experience to the role.

Amber specialises in the structural analysis, design, management, inspection, and refurbishment of reinforced concrete water-retaining structures, including post-tensioned concrete.

She has been commissioned to investigate structural failures, produce technical opinion reports for legal cases, and served as an expert witness. Amber co-authored the UK water industry research publication, “Treated Water Storage Assets: Good Practice for Operation and Management, which is widely recognised in the industry. In 2023, she was shortlisted for the Women in Construction and Engineering’s Best Female Structural Engineer awards.

Notable projects include a three-year posting in Hong Kong on the new airport and an advisory role on the Boston Flood Barrier.
