Rick Kaiser joins Mott MacDonald as federal and defense market lead, North America

Rick Kaiser has joined Mott MacDonald to lead and grow the federal and defense portfolios in North America for the global engineering, development and management consultancy. Rick will be responsible for creating and overseeing the US federal business strategy, developing and expanding federal client relationships, and raising Mott MacDonald’s profile through enhanced industry and market presence. Rick will closely coordinate with Sebastian Pastor, who recently joined Mott MacDonald as defense portfolio lead for North America, and Mott MacDonald’s global network of defense experts including Ian Courtney, Paul Harrison and Ian Levers.

Rick brings over 30 years of senior-level experience working within and for the US federal government, including the greater defense industry and international partners. His expertise includes flood control planning — structures and systems, infrastructure development, operational planning, and international relations. Rick joins us from Black & Veatch, where he was president of its Special Projects Corporation (Federal).

Prior to Black & Veatch, Rick had a distinguished career with the US Army and its military engineering branch, the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE). He held various high-ranking roles, including USACE chief operating officer (deputy chief of engineers), chief executive officer (commanding general) of the USACE’s Mississippi Valley Division, and chief executive officer (commanding general) of its Great Lakes/Ohio River Division. Rick also served with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) and US Army as chief executive officer (commander) of the Combined Security Transition Command in Afghanistan.

Commenting on his appointment, Rick said, “I'm excited to be stepping into the role of federal and defense market lead for North America, and establishing Mott MacDonald as a trusted advisor and partner in defense infrastructure. I look forward to working in close collaboration with Mott MacDonald’s global network of experts to deliver value and certainty.”

Commenting on the growth of our defense business and Rick’s appointment, Dean Radeloff said, “We are thrilled to have a leader with such deep experience and recognition within the federal and defense market join us. Rick significantly strengthens our ability to provide advanced defense and infrastructure solutions in North America and worldwide.”
