Mott MacDonald’s Mark Enzer elected Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering, UK

Mark Enzer, Mott MacDonald chief technical officer, has been elected as a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Engineering – the highest accolade in the profession.

Each year Fellows of the Academy nominate and elect their peers for this prestigious Fellowship in recognition of their contributions towards the engineering profession. This is the highest national honour that an engineer can receive and is awarded to the UK’s most preeminent engineers representing the nation’s best engineering researchers, innovators, entrepreneurs, and business and industry leaders.

In his role as chief technical officer at Mott MacDonald, Mark is responsible for technical excellence across the Group. Throughout his career he has championed innovation in the context of collaborative delivery models. Mark is particularly interested in transformational change in the infrastructure sector, including systems-thinking, connected digital twins, data infrastructure, low-carbon sustainable solutions and the circular economy in the built environment.

As the inaugural chair of the Digital Framework Task Group (DFTG), Mark has guided the National Digital Twin programme (NDTp). The programme’s mission is to enable a data infrastructure to help unlock the information economy, building a smarter nation that benefits people and society and is a key step in the digital transformation of the infrastructure and construction sectors. It has recently contributed to the government’s new Transforming Information Performance Roadmap to 2030. The NDTp is currently working with early adopters and future users of digital twins in developing an information management framework to connect digital twins to deliver benefit to all.

Mark also led the Digital Transformation workstream on “Project 13” for the Infrastructure Client Group, which represents the UK’s major infrastructure client organisations, and he was the lead author of the Infrastructure Carbon Review, published by HM Treasury.
