Mott MacDonald response to the Net Zero Review

Mott MacDonald welcomes today’s report by Chris Skidmore MP on Net Zero. Although significant progress has been made in decarbonising the UK, in particular in energy and transport, there is still so much more to do. We know from advising and working with investors in these and other sectors that they are often held back by uncertainty about the policy environment. We are facing shortages of qualified engineers and other specialists at exactly the same time as we need more and more people with the right skills to take us through the transition to a low carbon economy. These are the two biggest issues, but there are others, such as finding a better approach to planning and being far more proactive when it comes to climate adaptation, that also need to be urgently addressed.

The long-term solutions set out in the review represent a major step in the right direction. Mott MacDonald is committed to supporting the Government and political decision-makers more widely as they take forward the proposals announced today to accelerate our progress and get us back on track towards the 2050 target.
