Mott MacDonald response to report from the UK's Climate Change Committee

The report today from the Climate Change Committee makes clear that the UK has to do a lot more to prepare for the impact of rising global temperatures. An important element of this is what happens to buildings, transportation systems and wider infrastructure.

At Mott MacDonald we are already working with our clients and peers across our sector to mainstream climate change and embed it into industry practices. It is why we co-authored the international specification for carbon management in the built environment, PAS 2080, that spans the whole lifecycle of buildings and infrastructure. It is also why we developed the Physical Climate Risk Assessment Methodology (PCRAM) with the Coalition for Climate Resilient Investment to embed resilience into financial decisions about infrastructure assets, making sure they are ready for the impacts of climate change.

We strongly urge our industry and others to adopt approaches like these: whilst government actions and new regulations are very important there is a lot that we can continue to get on with in the private sector to adapt to changes to the climate now and over the coming years.
