Mott MacDonald has appointed David Bullick as technical director for pipelines and networks in its UK water consultancy business. As part of an expanding team based in Birmingham, David will provide technical leadership across our team supporting clients in their live efforts to deliver complex water supply and distribution programmes effectively and efficiently.
David is an acknowledged industry expert having spent more than 25 years working with multiple water companies and their suppliers both in the UK and internationally in a range of consulting and assurance roles. With a broad water supply and distribution background, he has a particular focus on the analysis and management of large diameter pipelines, aqueducts and strategic networks throughout their asset lifecycle.
David’s recent project highlights include Anglian Water’s Strategic Pipelines Programme, where he first led a multi-disciplinary feasibility team to develop the initial Water Resource Management Plan strategy into a robust conceptual design for the 400km large diameter strategic mains network. Latterly, he supported its ongoing delivery as optioneering lead.
David is a trusted advisor to Severn Trent Water, sitting on the steering group for the University of Sheffield’s long-running prevention of discolouration on distribution systems research project. He has been instrumental in the practical application of the operational management principles developed by this transformative research project across the company’s strategic grid as part of its AMP6 Operational Readiness programme.
Commenting on his appointment, David said: “It’s very exciting to be joining Mott MacDonald at a time when their water consultancy business is growing significantly. There’s a hugely talented team here, working on some major projects with the potential to deliver wider economic, social and environmental objectives. The urgency to change our approach to major water infrastructure has increased and Mott MacDonald is perfectly positioned to help clients navigate their response to that. I look forward to developing the business in a way that supports this.”
Tim Hill, managing director of Mott MacDonald’s water and environment business in the UK, said: “We are one of the leading consultants in the water sector and David’s appointment further strengthens our well-established capability and reputation in the industry. His arrival reflects our continued growth in water consultancy across our UK office network, delivering both locally and nationally important projects. He brings significant experience of driving real value for clients and will contribute significantly to the development of further hubs of excellence.”
